This is a very nice, very collectible “state plate” from New York City. It is approximately circa 1980, manufactured in Korea.
Measures 7 1/8″ across, features graphic images of the United Nations, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Manhattan Skyline, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, and quite noticeably, the original World Trade Center. It has a sweet hand-applied gold trim to the edge, and all in all, appears to be darn near mint, with no wear, no cracks, no chips.
This lovely item once decorated some lucky collector’s walls, and still has a woven plastic line on the back.
For state plate collectors out there, keep watching here. I will be posting more plates from such places as Illinois, Texas, Maine, Nevada and Utah, along with plates from other countries, like Canada and Mexico.
