Here is an excellent book, by both world-renowned authors Bruce Catton and James M. McPherson.
Dated 1996, it has an excellent dust cover, measures 11 1/4″ by 9 1/2″ and its massive 1 3/4″ width holds over 600 pages crammed with photographs, drawings, descriptions and lots of cross references for the most bloodiest war in American history. One note, unfortunately, the CD is missing, but as a reference and research book, its equal is hard to find!
It is quite heavy, with a shipping weight of about 6 pounds, but it’s quite well worth it!! And it would make a great Christmas gift or birthday gift to that aspiring Civil War historian.
